A quiet time for us although we had a good time at Rottingdean Grange back in June. It’s always special to sing the old songs in their home village and this was no exception. Expertly compered by Vic Smith who’s been associated with the local folk scene since the late 1960’s, we sang outside on a beautifully tranquil evening. We thank Rottingdean Heritage for the opportunity and particularly to Chris Davidson its chairman. Currently we eagerly anticipate the upcoming appearance of our own Shirley Collins on the BBC’s Desert Island Discs this coming Sunday 6th August. Shirley’s connection with The Copper Family goes back to the early 1950’s when Bob Copper, collecting songs for the BBC first met Shirley and her sister Dolly. Shirley’s career has undergone a huge and well deserved renaissance in recent year culminating in the release of a new album ‘Archangel Hill’.
