75th ANNIVERSARY OF FIRST BBC BROADCAST
01 Jun 2025
SUNDAY 31st AUGUST, 2025….will see a not-to-be-missed event celebrating the 75th anniversary of the first BBC broadcast by Bob Copper and his father Jim from The Eight Bells Jevington. This is widely recognised as bringing English traditional song performed by true ‘source’ singers to a much wider public.
A late afternoon and early evening of all things ‘Copper’…and more!
We are delighted therefore to announce that we shall be appearing at Charleston Barns (near Firle), home of The Bloomsbury Artists, and will be showing two documentary programmes about The Copper Family, on display will be Bob Copper’s previously unseen art in the form of twelve paintings celebrating every month of the year, dancing by Brighton Morris, a concert from The Twagger Band and readings from Bob’s books, and of course we shall be giving a performance at the end of the day. We hope to have three generations of the family with us. The event starts at 4.00pm and will finish round about 8.30/9.00pm.
Tickets are going fast!
