WELCOME TO 2025!

Hello! Although the Copper Family only makes a few appearances during the year, we enjoy them immensely. Those of you who know us realise that we have busy lives and families to take care of…getting away is always difficult. Despite this we will be adding gigs as and when we can attend them.

You will notice that there will be a concert in the Hampshire village of Cheriton to mark an auspicious event, for it is 70 years since Bob Copper took up the licence of The HH Inn, what was then one of three pubs in the village..now there is but one. Although the family remained in the village for just two years it proved to have a hugely influential effect on all members of the family. Bob was also working as a freelance collector of folk song and dialect for the BBC and the village and surrounding areas provided a treasure trove of material. Many of Bob’s reminiscences are recorded in his book ‘Songs and Southern Breezes’, thankfully still in print.

Another notable event, still at the planning stage is the 75th anniversary of the first broadcast by the Family for the BBC, as part of the Country Magazine programme it was transmitted live from the Eight Bells Jevington…watch this space!
